We could also see the ‘Sonke duo’ of Son Heung-min (31-Tottenham Hotspur) and Harry Kane (30-Bayern Munich) playing together and sharing goals again. Chairman Daniel Levy (61-England) has said himself that he included a ‘buy-back clause’ in their contracts during the sale this summer.
“Levy has said himself that he can bring Kane back,” the Global Edition of Goal.com reported on Tuesday (Aug. 20), adding, “Tottenham have a ‘buy-back clause’ in their contract with Bayern Munich this summer, so they can bring him back at a later date.”
In fact, Levy recently attended a Tottenham fan forum where he reportedly revealed that “there is a ‘buy-back clause’ to bring Kane back”. A buy-back clause is a transfer option that allows a club to bring a player back for an agreed transfer fee. The specific amount is unknown.
If Levy is right and there is a buy-back clause in the contract, and Spurs do exercise the option, Kane will be back in North London. He could also be reunited with Son Heung-min, who is currently in informal contract talks to continue playing alongside him.
The ‘Son-Ke duo’ has been together at Tottenham since 2015, combining to lead the attack. So far, they have combined for 47 goals in the English Premier League (EPL). That far surpasses the previous record of 36 goals between Didier Drogba (45, Ivory Coast) and Frank Lampard (45, England).
But what seemed like an eternity ago, the Son-Ke duo broke up after last season. While Son has remained at Tottenham and has been named ‘captain’, the pair have gone their separate ways, with Kane opting for a new challenge in this summer’s transfer window, leaving for Bayern Munich.
The Son-Kane duo could be reunited in four years’ time, however, with Levy revealing that there is a ‘buy-back clause’. The reunion could happen assuming Tottenham trigger the buy-back clause and bring back Kane, who signed a four-year deal with Bayern Munich.
If Kane were to return to Spurs, he would be in line for another run at the EPL’s all-time goalscoring record. He is currently second on the list with 213 goals in 320 career games. He is 47 goals behind Alan Shearer (53-England), who has 260 goals in 441 career games 스포츠토토.
